The challenge

What the project required

After twelve years running a performance-marketing agency, the founder wanted a home for the opinions the agency could never publish: which ad platforms, AI tools and SaaS are worth the money, with receipts. It had to read like a publication rather than a portfolio — opinions, scored verdicts, guides and a weekly newsletter, with no paywall and no sponsored placements — and the typography had to carry a blunt headline without shouting.

The solution

How it came together

A static site, hand-written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and served from Cloudflare — nothing to patch, nothing to log into. Two self-hosted variable fonts do the whole voice: Archivo for the oversized display headlines, Inter for reading. A small token palette — ink, cobalt and a lime accent — runs through every page as CSS custom properties. The verdicts board scores each tool out of five and stamps it Correct, Partly or Incorrect; the opinions archive carries reading time and an in-article table of contents; the newsletter capture and the affiliate disclosure sit where a reader expects them, not behind a modal.
